FAQs

WHAT IS INTEGRATIVE PSYCHIATRY?

Integrative psychiatry is based on the premise that the brain, body, and physical environment are all interconnected. This interactivity, along with genetic predispositions, can lead to dysfunction in mental health depending on physical, emotional, and environmental factors. At The Eden Center, we don’t look at mental health with a singular focus. Instead, we choose an integrative approach focusing on the five tenants of mental wellness: nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, sleep, and social support. Integrating all aspects of the individual’s life allows us to identify problematic areas in regard to mental health. Once identified, optimization can begin correcting areas that contribute to negative aspects of mental health. Identifying the root cause of a problem, correcting it, and optimizing an individual so that they may be the best version of themselves in this life.

DO YOU OFFER IN-PERSON APPOINTMENTS?

Yes, we actually prefer in-person appointments. We also understand schedules and safety concerns are a reality for many of our clients so telehealth sessions are available upon request but not preferred for initial appointments.

IF I PREFER TELEHEALTH, HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO COME IN PERSON?

In-person visits are recommended and encouraged for all initial appointments. The frequency of in-person visits is up to the discretion of the provider depending on circumstances and individual treatment needs.

HOW LONG IS A TYPICAL APPOINTMENT?

Initial medication management assessments are scheduled for 60 minutes and follow-ups are 30 minutes. All psychotherapy sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes.

WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR CLIENTS?

Our providers are trained and board certified to treat individuals across their lifespan. Pediatric psychiatry at the Eden center begins at the age of four, with no age limit for our geriatric clients.

CAN I RECEIVE MEDICATION MANAGEMENT WITHOUT THERAPY?

Yes. While we do encourage psychotherapy in addition to medication management, we respect the individual choice to not engage in psychotherapy.

CAN I RECEIVE PSYCHOTHERAPY WITHOUT MEDICATION MANAGEMENT?

Yes. Medication management is reserved for those who are appropriate for such treatment and, even if recommended by a psychotherapist, will undergo a full mental health evaluation with one of our psychiatric nurse practitioners prior to receiving any medication. This, again, is a client's choice and is not mandated by the practice.

DO YOU ACCEPT MEDICARE OR MEDICAID?

No, at this time we only accept commercial insurance, some state-sponsored child health plus plans, and self-payment. The self-payment option may vary by provider and pricing can be obtained by contacting our office.

WHAT IF I HAVE COMMERCIAL INSURANCE BUT MY PROVIDER IS OUT-OF-NETWORK?

Provider credentialing is done on an ongoing basis, as such, if a provider is in the credentialing process special self-pay pricing will be made available to clients until the credentialing process for their insurance carrier is complete. Once their provider is in-network fee schedules would be returned to those dictated by the client’s individual plan. Call for pricing and insurance status.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

All appointments must be canceled within 24 hours or clients will incur a $60.00 non-refundable fee for missed appointments. More than two instances of missed appointments without prior cancellation could lead to discharge from our practice. This policy is put in place due to the overwhelming need for mental health care and the scarcity of qualified providers. We ask that you take your appointments as seriously as we do.

IS YOUR OFFICE ACCESSIBLE?

Yes. Our office offers elevator access, wheelchair-accessible bathrooms, and automatic doors.
